Celebrating our 22nd Anniversary!
Back
in January, 1989, we came to visit the town of Harpers Ferry, WV.
After touring the historic lower town, we trudged up the hill to
Bolivar. We were struck by Harper’s Ferry’s and Bolivar’s history and
beauty. We came upon a small, combination, soda
fountian/carryout/grocery store that was for sale. We loved the
charm of the store and the home next door that was part of the sale. Russ
had owned and operated a hotel/restaurant in Ocean City, MD. Lisa’s
experience consisted of preparing food and hosting parties for family
& friends. Russ is originally from Annapolis, MD, Lisa, from
Baltimore, MD. We decided to give small town living a try. We began
our business keeping with the same menu as the previous owner. We have
since evolved and expanded into a full service restaurant, serving a n
extensive breakfast and lunch menu. We offer homemade chili, soups,
salads & sandwiches and have continued to serve olde tyme fountain
drinks. To to this day, we hand mix vanilla, cherry or chocolate cokes
as well as “real ice cream” shakes, floats and sodas.
We
have enjoyed serving the Harpers Ferry National Park Service employees,
the local town businesses and residents, and the tourists who visit our
town, for more than 20 years! Some of our children have been educated
in WV, and all of them, Mark, Stephanie, Craig and Allison as well as
Lisa’s sister’s family, Elayne, Wayne, Taylor & Tess, have helped
make our cafe a wonderful sucess. We are proud to call Bolivar/Harpers Ferry home. It has been a wild & wonderful ride! - Russ Nasteff & Lisa Edel
